Bleeding London
Improved My Photography

I visit London 2 or 3 times a year, usually for live music, but I always throw in some photography.
Earlier this year I saw the Bleeding London project mentioned in Amateur Photographer magazine. The aim of the project is to collect a photograph of every street listed in London's A-Z by the end of October 2014 (it started earlier this year), with a resulting exhibition.
I'm always looking for interesting things to photograph or trying to photograph well-known locations in a different way, whether I'm in a back street or not, but after reading about Bleeding London the next time I went to London I purposely walked slower and challenged myself to take a photo in every street. I'm glad I did because it's led to some of my favourite photos I've taken in London - that I wouldn't have taken otherwise. If I put together a portfolio of my images from London now compared to before I read about Bleeding London, it'd definitely be more interesting and representative of London than just showing the iconic sites with a few other places thrown in.
Some of my favourite photos from my "Bleeding London walks" are below.

There's a lesson here even if you don't live in London, go for a walk (maybe your commute) and take a photo in every street - not just a record shot - try and be creative. Is there something (or someone) that sums up the character of the street? Can you show the street in a new way? I'll be thinking about this wherever I go from now on.
