When I Go, Will You Be There?

by Alex Harford

Through the similar sound
 of an absent dream,
I heard her speak
 my name.

I saw her eyes
 as she parted her hair,
and to this I whispered
 back to her

"When I go,
 will you be there?"

This eventually became a song when I joined a band. My friend, Dave Cakes, phoned me up one day and asked if he could put the words to some music he'd just written, which he then played over the phone. I play keys in the recording below.
